About
Students’ Union Community Sabbatical, Tom Underwood has has spent the last 9 months establishing and strengthening links with local residents and the Police and Communities Together (PACT) group. Tom is keen to encourage students to contribute positively in our communities and to forge stronger links with their neighbours. This allotment will provide an excellent opportunity for students to meet local residents who can provide expertise and advice that will help them to plant and grow fruit and vegetables successfully.
Matt Tennant, The Students’ Union’s Environmental & Ethical Officer, is also keen to encourage and educate students and staff to live in a more environmentally friendly manner. Having a Students’ Union allotment was part of his plan and we are now looking to encourage students to help out in maintaining the plot, growing fruit and vegetables, educating students in healthy eating and by selling the produce to students on campus it is hoped that the allotment will become self- sustaining! Matt has also secured a wild flower garden on campus and updates on this will also be posted
